While reading the news articles, I thought that the people that are doing those things are crazy
and should be put into jail. In the first article I read Joseph McCarthy accused 205 people of
being communist, that is absolutely preposterous. The bad thing is, he didn’t have any
evidence to back up is accusations; to me I think he’s crazy. Also no one did anything about
it, because they were afraid that if they did they too would be called a communist.
People’s suffrage is a basic element of our democracy that many Americans take it for
granted. No one has the right to stop someone from going to the polls or voting. Through out
the years people have always been discriminated for voting. At first it was the African
Americans with the grandfather clause, poll taxes, and literature tests to see if they were
competent to vote. later women fought for there suffrage, by holding protests and other ways.
Some of the women were jailed trying to fight for their right to vote, in the cells some were
beaten. Even in the jails they were still fighting, for example a woman went on a hunger strike,
later having to be forced fed through a tube down her throat.
Over all the things people to do to keep people from voting, and to vote are
revolutionary and encouraging. Also people shouldn’t discriminate against others for the way
their skin color is or what gender they are. We should all become one nation united
