Abstract
The Gettysburg Address
Abraham Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address and presented it to the nation on November 19, 1863. In his brief foist speech he talked about how our four fathers brought to us this nation to give everyone an equal opportunity. And in the time of war, the nation is being tested to see whether it can endure the terrible things that are being thrown upon by the evils of war. The United States are a coterie that believes that the men who gave their lives to this country deserve respect. They are honored for their devotion and charisma for their country.
Brutus
Brutus tells the roman’s to be still till he is done speaking to them so that they can hear what he has to say. Also have respect to his honor and believe in it. He says that he loved Caesar as much as the people loved him. But there was another love that he possessed, the love of Rome. This love of Rome was as he said, greater than the love for Caesar. He then asks them, “Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men?” He then says for as Caesar was fortunate and that he rejoices for it. And that he was valiant he honors him. But Caesars ambition was his downfall.
A Modest Proposal
A man by the name of Jonathon Swift proposes a conclusion to deal with the children of the poverty stricken people in Ireland. Instead they would be beneficiary to the public, and no longer a burden to their parents or country. His proposal is to eat these children that are born into poverty, and to parents who can’t afford to raise a child. Also, for prime feasting that the child be over the age of two, and fattened to a plump succulent dinner course.
John F. Kennedy
John F. Kennedy says in his inaugural speech, that “let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.” Also let both sides seek the wonders of science instead of the terrors. To explore the stars, eradicate disease, and encourage the arts and commerce. And in the time of maximum terror, that he will accept the role of defending our freedom, furthermore not shrivel away from this responsibility.
Mark Anthony
At Caesars burial Mark gives a speech to his friends, Romans and countrymen. He then talks about how he does not do the honorable men wrong, rather to wrong the dead, himself and the crowd. There is a letter that mark shows the audience, it is Caesars will that he retrieved from his closet. He says to have patience gentle friends because they want to hear the will, but mark won’t read it to them for the sake that he says it will inflame them with rage and anger. Subsequently he tells them that if they are patient and stay awhile they will hear the will. He tells the crowd to gather around Caesar, and if they need weep to do it so now in remembrance of Caesar. Furthermore he tells what happened when Caesar saw Brutus stab him, for this was the most intolerable cut of them all, he was overcome by a great ingratitude that vanquished him and crushed his mighty heart.
